For everyone in Dane County to get where they need to go without having to drive, a well designed, amply funded, and fully regional transit system is essential.

A focused conversation about and organized effort toward such a system is an important project in its own right, even as part of a larger transportation reform agenda. The Dane Transit Coalition project (or DaneTransit, for short) is DART’s effort to build an online network and community of area residents interested in improving and expanding public transit in greater Madison and Dane County.

Over time we hope this project will become the basis for a separate coalition dedicated specifically to transit that’s rapid, regional, reliably funded, and responsive to rider needs. For now we’re seeking to foster robust and informed debate about how best to establish such a transit system.
